Closer to a finished look

The weather has played a key factor in finishing the exterior of our building. In spite of all this, the siding should be completed in the next week.

Roughed In Offices

The office and washroom spaces are nearly roughed-in. They are in a good position to be finished for startup in the fall. This will depend on summer work parties and funding.

Floor is finished !!

The floor is poured and cut. We are now in a position to finish the washrooms and start the offices and classrooms

Bike A Thon change

$175,000 Government Grant

MLA George Groenveld and Ted Morton presented a Government Grant in the Amount of $175,000 to the 187 Foothills Air Cadets on the morning of 20 March 2009. These funds have allowed the commencement to completion of the building. The next few weeks shall see an increase in activity around the building. Several Contractors are set to start in their area of expertise from Electrical to In-floor heating.
This money will bring the building alot closer to completion but a shortfall is still foreseen.
A review of floor plans has identified a couple areas of concern that would present a few problems as our Squadron grows, so these points are being addressed in the building stage.

High River/ Okotoks Bottle Drive

On Saturday, 4 April 2009, The Squadron will carry out a bottle drive in both High River and Okotoks from 10 am - 2 pm. The Air Cadets will be split between the two areas.

The High River bottle collection point will be anounced shortly.

The Okotoks collection point will be at the Bottle Depot in Okotoks.

Mapped collection areas will be designated on the start of the bottle drive.

Special bottle collections can be pre-arranged prior to the bottle drive.

Squadron Crest

The Air Cadets have been tasked with establishing a Squadron crest .

Elks Donate $3000

Styrofoam Building Blocks - Ongoing Fundraiser

Our new building was constructed using interlocking styrofaom formation blocks filled with cement. The Parents Sponsoring Committee has taken the liberty to sell thes blocks as a fundraiser to help raise funds for our project, Each block is sold for $20 . Any Purchase of 5 or more blocks will also be recognized on our "Donor Wall" in the new building. Please insure the name to appear on the "Donor Wall" is clearly identified at time of purchase. Tax receipt will be made available on request.

Hallmark/ Prestige Art Gallery Fundraiser

The Hallmark Store In Okotoks has offered us a fundraising event, whereby the Squadron is allotted a three hour time frame from 10 - 1 on 25 Apr 2009 to have invited guests (family and friends) shop at the store, as well as the Prestige Art Gallery during has allotted a time frame from 10 - 5 and a percentage of all sales during this period will be donated to the Squadron. We will be setting up a Refreshment Table along with signs as to who is hosting the event at both locations. Cadets and parents will be at each location.

Zytech Building Systems New Building Donation

Joanna Lyons and Stonewall Burk being presented a cheque for $5000 from Rick Killiam of Zytech Building Systems in Okotoks

The new building is currently secure to the elements. Inside work will commence as funding permits.

Once the building floor is in place, offices, washrooms will be constructed and the building will be able to house the Air Cadets.

Fundraising is essential to achieve this goal.
